Schneider Electric continues to drive the data centre sustainability agenda
Kevin Brown, Senior Vice President, EcoStruxure Solutions, Secure Power Division, and Alison Matte, Sustainability Lead EcoStruxure IT, both at Schneider Electric, explain the introduction of new model based, automated sustainability reporting features within the company’s EcoStruxure IT DCIM software - discussing the importance of accurate performance metrics as data centres respond to the business imperatives of energy efficiency and performance optimisation as well as the march of environmental legislation - with the EU Energy Directive already making an impact.

Redefining energy-efficient processing
Brandon Lucia, a Carnegie Mellon professor who recently founded Efficient Computer, a company that is producing a general purpose chip said to be up to 100 times more energy-efficient than leading general-purpose CPUs, talks through the company’s reconfigurable dataflow processor architecture, explaining just how much of an impact he believes this innovation will have where AI and ML are used in IoT devices at the edge and, maybe overtime, in the data centre itself.

Dealing with downtime costs
James Hodge, GVP & Chief Strategy Advisor at Splunk, discusses the findings of the company’s recent ‘Hidden Costs of Downtime’ report – which identifies not just the financial cost of downtime - $400 billion annually – but also the damage done to shareholder value, brand reputation, innovation velocity and customer trust. The report also identifies a group of resilience leaders, and James shares the strategies which these organisations deploy to minimise downtime occurrences and their impact.

AI could ‘make or break’ the data centre industry
Jim Hart, BCS CEO, provides some brilliant insights into the sustainability, skills and supply chain challenges facing the data centre industry, and that’s before the AI explosion promises to redefine the rules completely! As ever, Jim brings some much needed wisdom to a discussion of the legislation, technology innovation, and choice of data centre location which will likely frame the industry’s future success.

AI adoption projects are ‘investment roulette’
Ian Stendera, Chief Product Officer, Ardoq, discusses the company’s recently published Emerging Technology Adoption 2024 Report, explaining the ways in which CIOs see developments such as AI as both a risk and opportunity. He provides some great insights into the size of the task facing organisations as they seek to adopt new technologies, as well as providing advice on how best to optimise the chances of project success.

AI and cybersecurity – a marriage made in heaven or hell?
Dennis Xu, VP Analyst, KI Leader, Gartner, discusses the coming together of AI and cybersecurity – in particular the rapid evolution of generative AI and its likely impact on cybersecurity – providing some valuable, actionable insights for navigating the GenAI hype to create real value. Dennis also comments on the need for organisations to reconsider their cyber resilience strategies in the wake of the recent Crowdstrike incident.

Next Opportunity

One of the major successes in 2023 for clients of Digitalisation World has been our recorded video interviews. With an average audience of well over 1000 viewers per interview, we can see how well appreciated they are by our readership.

While most of the video interviews have been purely editorial - the topics and participants chosen by our editor, Philip Alsop - we are being asked by more and more companies to produce specific video interview packages.

Against this background, we are delighted to offer VIDEO INTERVIEW PACKAGES

If you'd like to guarantee inclusion, and also have a valuable asset to use as and where you want into the future, we highly recommend that you consider the VIDEO INTERVIEW PACKAGE, which works as follows:
  • Choose the topic that you wish to take leadership in. Whether you'd like to promote a product or service or to discuss some of the current industry issues, we will work with you to produce a 30-minute video.
  • Following an initial discussion, our editor will produce a set of agreed questions for sharing ahead of the interview and share the Zoom recording link.
  • Once the interview has been recorded via Zoom, this is sent off for editing, including your company logo, and the edited video is then shared with you for the amends/approval process.
  • Once signed off, the video will be included in the next DW Video Issue, on the DW website, and we will give you the original source file, so you can promote via social media.

Contact us to find out how you can be involved.

You will still have the usual opportunity to submit editorial articles and comment pieces, free of charge, to be considered for inclusion in the digital magazine and/or on the DW website.
