DCS talks to Ruth Miller, Principal Consultant at Lenovo at DCT 2024
News and views from the recent DCA-organised Data Centre Transformation 2024 event.

A positive perspective on the data centre power challenge
Barny Evans, Director of Sustainability and ESG at Turley, explains how the data centre industry can sustainably navigate the energy demands of the AI revolution, discussing innovative approaches to powering data centres, such as microgrid implementation, demand flexibility, co-location strategies, and the integration of renewable energy sources in mixed-use developments.

IT modernisation - the dos and don'ts
Neil Fowler, SVP of Hybrid Cloud Engineering at Rocket Software, discusses the challenges and opportunities of IT modernisation, offering some valuable insights as to the essential ingredients of a successful IT modernisation strategy, alongside some words of caution as to the pitfalls to avoid.

AI cloud platform promises sustainable compute
Alex Sharp, Chief Projects Officer, Data Centres at Nscale, outlines the scale of the AI data centre challenge – with average rack consuming 130 kilowatts of power, and as chips become more sophisticated, so too does their appetite for energy. In just five years, data centres could account for up to 30% of global emissions. Happily, there are ways in which such a future can be addressed to ensure a sustainable, digital future for the data centre sector.

AI optimism is high, but challenges remain
Nicolas Leszczynski, Principal Solution Engineer at Riverbed, discusses the results of the recent Riverbed Global AI & Digital Experience Survey, which finds that organisations are at an inflection point as they accelerate their adoption of AI. Despite high optimism, the report reveals this reality – while 94% of those surveyed say AI is a top C-Suite priority and 91% agree it provides a competitive advantage, only 37% are fully prepared to implement AI projects now, as organisations address challenges ranging from data quality to scalability that are impacting their ability to realise the full benefits of AI.

Next opportunity

One of the major successes in 2024 for clients of Digitalisation World has been our recorded video interviews. With an average audience of well over 1000 viewers per interview, we can see how well appreciated they are by our readership.

While most of the video interviews have been purely editorial - the topics and participants chosen by our editor, Philip Alsop - we are being asked by more and more companies to produce specific video interview packages.

Against this background, we are delighted to offer VIDEO INTERVIEW PACKAGES

If you'd like to guarantee inclusion, and also have a valuable asset to use as and where you want into the future, we highly recommend that you consider the VIDEO INTERVIEW PACKAGE, which works as follows:
  • Choose the topic that you wish to take leadership in. Whether you'd like to promote a product or service or to discuss some of the current industry issues, we will work with you to produce a 30-minute video.
  • Following an initial discussion, our editor will produce a set of agreed questions for sharing ahead of the interview and share the Zoom recording link.
  • Once the interview has been recorded via Zoom, this is sent off for editing, including your company logo, and the edited video is then shared with you for the amends/approval process.
  • Once signed off, the video will be included in the next DW Video Issue, on the DW website, and we will give you the original source file, so you can promote via social media.

Contact us to find out how you can be involved.

You will still have the usual opportunity to submit editorial articles and comment pieces, free of charge, to be considered for inclusion in the digital magazine and/or on the DW website.
